Saint Symeon the New Theologian, Let us hasten to receive the Spirit

John 1,29,34; Rm 5,1-2.5; Is 49,3.5-6.

Among the most beloved holy fathers, we find

St. Symeon the New Theologian, who was

abbot of St. Mamas in Constantinople.

It is one of 3 main to whom the Church Fathers Orthodox awarded the title of "Theologian" because it is one of the few in the history of Christianity, to "know" God.
The other 2 are Theologians John the Evangelist and St. Gregory Nazianzen (+ 390).
Saint Simeon was born in 949 in Galatia, in Paphlagonia (Asia Minor).

The Spirit teaches all
bright light in the unspeakable, and it will show

all realities
intelligible
much as you can see, it is accessible to all
man ,
to measure the
purity of your soul,
and you will become like God
exactly imitating his works, in fact
temperance, courage and love for
men
well as support races
and loving your enemies.

That will do for you, my child
,
imitator of the Master, and will manifest in you

the true image of your Creator, all things
icon
the perfection of God. Then the Creator

send the Divine Spirit, who blows
,
who dwell, which will determine his stay

substantially in you,
which will give you light, you will shine

and recreate you whole,
which, corruptible
will make you immortal,
and refurbish the decrepit house,
that of your soul and with it, it will
incorruptible
entirely incorruptible
your whole body, and he will
god by grace,
like your Model:
O wonder!

Becoming a swimming pool
divine and luminous
it embraces all those who are worthy

and that lies within. It completely reshapes

everyone he receives
inside of himself, he
refurbishes, renovates
it dramatically. As
immortal
it confers immortality
light without being sunset, he turns into light

all those whom he makes his home;
being life
he gives to all life;
being consubstantial with Christ
identical in nature and glory,
being one with him, it makes absolutely

like Christ.

Let us hasten therefore to receive the Spirit
that comes from God, the Divine Spirit
,
to become
heirs of the heavenly kingdom for ever. So
Run hard, run
all
to be worthy of
we find inside

the kingdom of heaven and rule with Christ, the Lord of all
,
who gets all the glory,
with the Father and the Spirit,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
