How To Decline An Invitation Sample

French, a word, several meanings

Reading the ticket Ah, those French! Mom 3.0 tonight, I wanted to tell you a little story of my youth (it makes me grow old writing that!).

When I was in secondary 2, I made an "exchange student" with a student from France. She came to spend two weeks in Quebec during the winter and we were going to spend two weeks in France at the end of classes in June.

During a meal at home with my family, we questioned him about his life in France by comparing it to our lives in Quebec. We noted in discussing the French and Quebecers had different meanings for a word.

For example, she explained that in France a bus, a bus and a bus was different bus while here we differentiate by naming their functions such as a school bus, City or travel.

My brother which would be 7 or 8 years old at the time, conversation and listening quietly taking a carrot in his hands, he asked the student:

What is it called a carrot in France?

I've never forgotten the laughter that we had following his question! A moment that remains etched in our memories forever:-D
